Topic: Do Non Shift Lite Flashing Allison 748 ATEC  (Read 4235 times)

We are near 49 miles from our destination of Kansas City and the "Practise Not Shift" Light flashes on my touchpad and the alarm sounds. Coach withal drives just won't shift gears. No contrary, doesn't downshift or upshift. When I pulled into a truck terminate, it would barely move from a complete end under full throttle. Turned off coach (couldn't even put it in neutral) turn autobus ignition back on and the light went out and autobus shifted usually for a few minutes of driving earlier the lite and alert came back and the whole thing repeated itself. The fluid level looks good. I'm not overtemp...retarder is disabled years ago so it's not that....whatsoever thoughts?

Fluid seems to be at a good level on dipstick. But I could add some. Trouble is I have transynd in there and no transynd at the truck stop. What tin can I mix it with? 15w30? Dextron?

Sir,whent you outset your engine,if ever y'all depress the fuel at the same fourth dimension, this will happened.
Check if you lot have dirt under your fuel pedal . If yes,the pedal is not comming back at it normal idle position.
Make clean every Piddling Rock that can get there.

It is in the limp way Scott probably a bad footing on the DDEC engine,if you lot have reset the transmission

Yep. Limp mode. Every time I turn the coach off so back on it resets and it works fine for a piddling while and so it does it again. I've added manual fluid it's still behaving the same way. Then where do I start looking for a bad ground related to something like this?

Do you take a dedicated grounding strap from the transmission to the frame?  Are your battery cable connections make clean and good?  Any physical dirt in the works inside the shifter push console bear upon pads?

Or ... like already said, concrete crud somewhere in the human foot throttle?   Are the concrete connections make clean and dry.  Any other poor continuity or grounding symptoms anywhere else in the Bus Conversion?

Ok I'll check
All
This. But another data point:

When information technology but happened, I didn't restart the bus this time to reset it. I only unplugged the touchpad only while the coach was running. This fixed it probably temporarily. Does this indicate to a touchpad issue?

Bank check the connections on the speed sensor

Life is brusk beverage the proficient wine first

Are whatever codes present? Shut engine off. Identify trans test switch "ON". Offset engine. Shift from "N" to "R" and back to "N". If codes are in that location this volition clear them. What always you do don't rev it up and it doesn't move. You will fry a clutch pack faster and then you know.

Cliff, my speedometer isn't working either all of the sudden...some other clue?

You don't need to accept the engine running to reset the codes, just accept the central in the "on" position.

I also have an intermittent "ground" somewhere. Mine throws a "low reverse pressure switch" code sometimes. I was told this is mutual trouble with the harness between the reckoner and the valve torso. the guy I spoke to is an "former salty" heavy equipment Allison guy.

I have non had the fourth dimension to fix mine yet, as I am not fix to dig into the valvebody and wiring.

I hope this turns out to be something easy for you, I have heard the grounding problem tin can be a real claiming on the ATEC.

I vaguely remember someone on this forum saying the speedo has a hall effect sensor somewhere on the front tires.

I know that is not helpful, I'one thousand certain one of the experts volition chime in shortly.

Aren't computers nice?  Yous have to go through every harness connection, have it apart, clean the terminals, slightly crimp the female ends, put information technology back together and promise for the all-time.

Cheers Solar...I'k flight out of town for a couple weeks then I'll have to hunt this down later unfortunately. Geoff, I am absolutely convinced after a mere three years of ownership that I would rather accept my mechanical 6v92 and Allison HT740 back any twenty-four hours...seriously.
